Im heutigen WM-Halbfinale in Sarasota (USA) startete Leonie Pieper vom Ruderclub Germania Düsseldorf gegen die ersten drei Ruderinnen vom Weltcup Luzern. Die Hoffnung war für sie somit gering, das A-Finale zu erreichen. Sie nahm das Rennen aber als Chance, „gegen die Besten der Welt zu rudern“, dafür sei sie ja schließlich da, wie sie sagte. Auch wenn sie noch mit den Nachwirkungen der Erkältung zu kämpfen hatte, konnte sie insgesamt die Leistung der anderen mit Respekt anerkennen.
„Morgen ist das entscheidende Rennen der Saison, da will ich alles rausholen. Vorne mit dabei zu sein wäre natürlich schön.“ Einige Gegnerinnen konnte sie schon schlagen, wie zum Beispiel die Ruderinnen aus Hongkong oder Mexico. Die Italienerin hat sie für morgen auch im Visier. Die Polin, die aus einem sehr schnellen Doppelzweier in den Einer wechselte, ist nun „nur“ im B-Finale. Sie wird eine sehr gute Konkurrenz sein.
Das B-Finale findet am Freitag, 29.09., um 09.10 Uhr (15.10 Uhr MEZ) statt.

- „Leave alligators alone. State law prohibits killing, harassing or possessing alligators. Handling even small alligators can result in injury.”
- „Never feed alligators – it’s dangerous and illegal. When fed, alligators can overcome their natural wariness and learn to associate people with food. When this happens, some of these alligators have to be removed and killed.”
- „Seek immediate medical attention if you are bitten by an alligator. Alligator bites can result in serious infections.”
